Step by Step

The German brand Step by Step is one of the most sought-after names by parents when it comes to school equipment. Under the umbrella of the Hama concern, ergonomic school bags, backpacks, and a whole range of smart accessories are created, making everyday life easier for young schoolchildren. All products are united by an emphasis on healthy backs, safety, and quality craftsmanship that is evident in every detail.

In our Step by Step collection, you will find a complete assortment in one place: from school bags for first-graders to school backpacks and sports bags, as well as pencil cases, water bottles, neck pouches, and cones for the first day of school.

Why parents choose the Step by Step brand

Both Step by Step school bags and backpacks are developed in collaboration with therapists and doctors from the German organization AGR (Aktion Gesunder Rücken) and bear its certificate for healthy backs. In practice, this means they are designed to distribute the load evenly and support the correct posture of the child, whose spine is still developing in the first years of school.

Quality is also hidden in the components. The chest strap buckles are supplied by the Japanese company YKK, the magnetic fastener by Fidlock, and the reflective elements by Oralite, which make the child visible from all sides in dusk and darkness. The materials are water-resistant, wear-resistant, and easy to clean with a damp cloth.

What you'll find in the Step by Step collection

The collection covers the entire school journey, from the first bell to leisure time:

• School bags from the CLOUD, SPACE, and FIT series as complete 5-piece sets with AGR certification. Check out school bags for 1st grade.
• School backpacks, led by the Step by Step GRADE model, which grows with the child from 1st to 4th grade.
• Sports bags for PE and extracurricular activities, in a design matching the school bag.
• Pencil cases and school pouches from the Step by Step FIT series, as well as spacious three-tier XXL pencil cases, fully equipped with quality colored pencils.
• Water bottles in Tritan and insulated stainless steel versions, which keep drinks fresh all morning.
• Neck pouches for keys, change, and documents.
• Cones for first-graders, which also serve as a toy after the celebratory first day.
• HAPPY CHARMS pendants and interchangeable MAGIC MAGS images for an original design. The full offer can be found among interchangeable images.

Design that the child can customize.

At the heart of every Step by Step school bag and backpack are the interchangeable MAGIC MAGS images. They are held by a magnetic attachment, and the child can change them anytime according to their mood, from dinosaurs and diggers to unicorns and the marine world. The school bag will thus last for years without the child "outgrowing" it, and a new set can simply be purchased.

Ecology and long lifespan

The Step by Step brand also thinks about the planet. Textile products, from school bags to backpacks to pencil cases and bags, are made from 100% recycled PET bottles (approximately 37 bottles per school bag), are 100% vegan, bluesign® certified, and have PFC-free impregnation. Additionally, school bags and backpacks come with a 4-year warranty, so they can comfortably serve younger siblings as well.
