When a toddler starts walking, their foot needs a shoe that bends with it. Superfit children's shoes therefore feature a flexible sole with a natural roll, a firm heel counter that holds the heel, and a reinforced toe cap that protects the toes. Each model from the Austrian brand Superfit is created in collaboration with paediatric orthopaedists and is designed for a foot that is still learning to walk.
In short, it's healthy footwear for toddlers, providing support where the foot needs it and freedom where it needs to grow. Whether you're buying the very first shoes for your toddler or a replacement for an outgrown pair, you're choosing from models designed for healthy foot development.
Children's footwear for toddlers is available all year round: lightweight children's sneakers and children's sandals, transitional models, and insulated winter children's shoes, with sizes starting from 18.
A toddler's foot is soft, malleable, and more sensitive to unsuitable shoes than parents realise. If you're looking for health shoes for toddlers, Superfit shoes are created in collaboration with paediatric orthopaedists, and the materials are tested for harmful substances. Suitable shoes for toddlers should meet a few criteria:
Superfit shoes also offer the WMS width system (narrow S, medium M, wide W), so the children's shoes in our range will fit children with atypically narrow or wide feet. For selected models, you'll also find a waterproof and breathable membrane (most often Gore-Tex, in some models Sympatex) that keeps the foot dry.
If your child is still crawling or taking their first assisted steps, they don't need firm shoes yet. For a non-walking baby, barefoot or soft booties are more beneficial, as are the first shoes that don't restrict the foot. Firm footwear for toddlers becomes necessary when the child walks independently and confidently, especially outdoors.
In the collection, you'll find first shoes for toddlers for the whole year:
Children's all-season footwear is also suitable for transitional weather. You can also choose by gender between girls' shoes and boys' shoes.
A toddler's foot grows in spurts, so orthopaedists recommend measuring the foot every 6 to 8 weeks. Buying shoes "to grow into" for the little ones doesn't pay off: shoes that are too big destabilize the ankle, while those that are too small deform the toes.
Measuring can be done at home in two minutes. Have the child stand in socks on a piece of paper, mark the end of the longest toe with a pencil perpendicular to the floor, and measure the distance from the heel in millimeters. Always start with the longer foot and enter the measured value into the Superfit size calculator directly on the product page. It will advise you on the size and the recommended allowance for healthy growth.
Children's shoes for toddlers from Superfit will accompany your child from their first steps to confident running on the playground. Equip your little explorers with shoes in which their first steps will be comfortable and secure. The complete range of children's footwear for toddlers and older schoolchildren can be found in our offer.
